The Committee on the Environment's primary goal is to promote an awareness
and an understanding of the sacredness of the natural environment and the
need to respond with gratitude toward the gifts of creation. It sponsors an annual GREEN GATHERING during the winter/early spring.. This gathering includes a presentation on an environmental issue, opportunities to network, worship and prayer. The committee also holds outings, assists parishes in their environmental ministries -- including energy choice and conservation, outreach and education -- publishes a column in the diocesan newspaper, Good News, maintains a library at the Transfiguration Lodge of All Saint's Conference Center, publishes a resource newsletter, The Green Sheet, as well as the Earth Ministries Handbook .and participates in the Interreligious Eco-Justice Network. A Resource Center has been developed which contains videos, curriculum, periodicals and other materials to assist churches in their environmental stewardship efforts.
