Emily Perow promotes youth ministry as well as coordinates diocesan-wide events. She consults with parishes interested in developing or expanding their youth group, and serves as a contact for youth and adults who work with youth interested in greater diocesan or national church involvement. The youth ministries program offers opportunities to youth in grades 6-12. There is an annual middle school (grades 6-8) event and a high school (grades 9-12) event where youth from all over the diocese gather for a weekend of fellowship and explore their faith. Previous themes have included issues such as peace and justice and "I am the Light of the World" celebrating our diversity. The events focus on how these topics relate to the life of a young person, and how to approach them from a Christian perspective. Emily also leads the Diocesan Youth Council (DYC), a diverse group of youth and adult advisors from around the Diocese who meet regularly to build community and develop leadership skills, and aid in planning middle school and senior high events. As youth advisors are an extremely important aspect of youth ministries, there are advisor days throught the year. These days are great opportunities for networking, shaing resources, and exploring new ideas. Diocesan Youth Ministries also serves as a liaison to Provincial and National Programs. There is an annual Senior High Province Event where youth from all over New England gather to explore their faith. The triennialNational Episcopal Youth Event (EYE), will be held next in San Antonio, Texas in the summer of 2008. The Youth Ministry office will work with young people in Connecticut who want to attend EYE. CALENDAR OF EVENTS March 14-15 and March 28-29, 2008 July
